If I remember this was for sale at Charles ironside some 3 years back I think, looks really clean.

I'm very sure the production date has to be 1994, must be registered as a 96' but manufacture dates maybe 94?

It would seem from the reg shown (P660RUW)  and chassis number from that, that it is a 1996

In fact the penultimate LWB 463.228 RHD vehicle made, the LHD production had ended long before

Genuine RHD UK with great spec AIRCON CL Etc.

Mileage seems true to MB's history chain...

Re: 96' G300 GEL 'RARE' - At the SL shop

Thanks for posting.....a great spot.

I thought mine being registered on 27/5/1994 was one of the last 90's RHD's but this looks to be a great buy for someone. It is identical spec and similar mileage as I have 103k on mine. Just added side steps which I know are a preference but I simply love them..sorry Fred.cheeky

From my investigations when buying a 463 the later ones all had front dashboards that were somehow fixed invisibly as the earlier 463's have the grommet covers (4 i think) that were/are nearly always missing!

Again personally preference  but the black leather and carpets always looks great. The only spot the difference I could see with this one is the under seat lockers......they look carpeted/velour on this one where as others I've seen are black metal?

Listing also has it down as 190BHP that must be a typo as I thought they were all 170BHP?

What would this be worth with a tailored 606 conversion?

But then it wouldn't be original...surprise

Seriously though, nice but underpowered. My SWB doesn't have enough power, how would a LWB fare?

That dealer is very good at pricing it's sales wink

What a lovely G, 2nd last rhd made. The 300 engine had been stopped in other models when the 300.24v was released in '93? Must have had a few left around

Is it just me - but if I go direct to the SL website and search their "Showroom" I don't find a G Wagon??

Yes - I know that if I use the link above that does go to the G Wagon.

Waterside Classics - always TOP TOP prices

sorry guys, i spoke before i saw it ! i was refering to the silver one that was also a p reg. it had the dark grey cloth rather than the light grey of my 96G.

THIS IS A LOVELY G ! very original condition. BUT the bonnet has been resprayed...gauranteed...

black leather a bit funeral like to me, [myn interior feels lighter and much more airy...

i hope it goes to a good home.

Re: 96' G300 GEL 'RARE' - At the SL shop

True mate, it is a good motor.

i do see the later 97-2000 petrol G320 for sale for better money now. Good engine, have this unit in my clk, and later 2004 s-class. Produces 217bhp roughly.

The early g320's were good, but needed an extra gear. The later has five speed box like the 300td's, they all should be five speed.

regards

g

Re: 96' G300 GEL 'RARE' - At the SL shop

your right gooch..

they all should have had an extra 5th gear,,,,

i love my 463, but i am seriously considering a 606a conversion.petrol costs are horrific !

i know i shouldnt, and maybe i probably will be talked out of it,but.....15 mpg as opposed to 28+ mpg sounds so tempting.

Nice, thanks mate ;)

Ruby is the 12 from last RHD 463.228 and 8th last UK spec

What motors are in the others assuming the 300GE is stock M103?

230 Cabrio has a 606A?

300 SWB has a 617A?

 Gav,

             your Anorak is showing!

So my 91  463 300GEL seems to have 460 wide alloys would these have been original? And colour coded wheel  arches? Electric pre-heat and Merc Bull bar all original?

Was in sunny Dony for a wedding the other day, but didn't hang round long headed off to see Dentsmithy in the Dales.

   Catch you next time.

This thread seems to have strayed off the original post (or maybe it's just me).

In any event - the very nice G300 LWB is no longer with the SL Shop.

hi gav.

how rare does that make my 463 ??  it drives so smooth i am often amazed by it [once in a blue moon my wife lets me drive it !]

my cabrio has a 606a. infact i reckon i am one of the first G owners to fit one back in 2007 i think it was....

the 79G has the grix'y 617a. should give a full write up here on it soon. it should be out by the weekend. [fingers crossed]

I rather think it was bought by the G Wagon specialists in Essex who now have it on sale for £5,000 more (although presumably they did without the SL warranty, pre sale service etc. so it was a trade sale and at a discount to the SL advertised price).

I'm sure you have heard of them - perhaps it was my description that wasn't accurate.

 Cheers Gav,

        Wide Track?

I think it was fully spected when it was bought new. Also has a 6 point LPG system fitted by the previous owner which is great.

A friend of mine on one of the LR forums has just bought that LWB.  in fact, he bought two G's this week!

both LWB's, this 463, and an earlier 460 280GE

See.... I'm slowly turning the LR fraternity into G supporters! yes
