Im now at the start of G restoration!! going to be a long bumpy road. I have some pics to put on at some point to share the fun with everyone that is interested! What i have is SWB 300GD and im currently driving an E300 (machine!!!) witch will become a donor! What i am asking at this point is, what advantages / disadvantage do you get by changing from a super smooth auto to a manual? I am currently in favour of sticking with auto box and electronic pump. If anybody knows anyone who might have a little knowledge on this matter i would enjoy their input. Any one done similar? Cheers all

I'm not making any recommendations one way or the other, but if you can make it to the AGM in September, I'll be there and I'll be offering test drives in our demonstrator and you can make up your own mind.

Yes done electronic 606 with some help with ecu off a top man who can sort ecu easily and properly and eliminate egr valve. Did it about 6 months ago and never looked back. its not the power its the overall everything is better. Some people say the low down torque is lost from a 603 engine. I think its much better even below the turbo. You will love it
