Very nice and with great story too.

Now if only he'd thought to order it with the steering wheel on the other side.............

A very rare car, only 500 made and they cost around £100k when new in 1993 !!

I had the chance to buy a nice example in 2007 for around £15,000 but the fact that they don't have a front difflock put me off. As you can see in the photo there are only two difflock switches.

Yes, they didn't think that the front axle would be up to handing the torque wind-up with improper use of the diff-lock.

I guess they fixed that concern in later AMG models with 700Nm.

Not much spare room in the engine bay, though, to do any work!

Memories!

Bought one these from slovakia in 2011, bullit proof engine.

I actually preferred this version 500ge than my later 2000 version.......no lie ! The two valve per cylinder had a much bigger roar. The later g500 was very very quiet that I owned with standard exhaust. There's one of these on mobile for over 45k ish.

Let me show you a 6.0 version AMG, based on the 500ge model then had later add ons after.

Same 'amethyst blue mettalic and leathers.

was the M119 ever used in a G?

Seems they went from M117 to M113.

I think the 6.0 was based on the m117 unit, ie 560SEC engine maybe modified?

M119 was more sofisticated, wasn't this one used in a 500e and 6.0ltr version.
