Hi I bought a 463 a while back with the idea of upgrading it , it is a 1991 3 litre model and had an engine fire which damaged the engine and interior at the front . I'm looking along the idea of using a donor vehicle so I can use all the wiring loom interior bits ecu dash and upgrade it to look more modern .I was looking at a s600 2004 model which was damaged but mechanically sound . The g wagon is totally stripped out ready to start but need to get the right donor car , first any constructive feed back would be highly appreciated . Many thanks jonny

A v12 would be difficult. You might find a similar aged v8 easier because the factory made them so parts could be bought rather than made. Do you own your own workshop and have plenty of time?

Re: 463 v 12 conversion

Hi I was thinking along the v8 route  but the thought of a v12  made my imagination run wild  I've got my own workshop and plenty of time if I stop going to the pub . Next step is finding a suitable donor vehicle . If I was going down the v 8 or v 12  route  I  would literally  retro fit  the wiring loom and interior  so everything would work  from the donor vehicle . Everything has been gutted outed out of the g wagon due to the engine fire .so  from the central locking to the sun roof will be donor vehicle compatible  . I have access to a engineering workshop so from engine mounts to transmit ion adapter plates can be made ,all I need now is  a suitable donor vehicle , any ideas .i thought of the s600 bi turbo which was going cheep and because it's a 4 door but if a cl or clk 2door would work .may be the ml 55 because of the 4 wheel drive what would you choose thank you jonny

The latest Brabus 800 is a twin turbo V 12 I belive 800BHP.. So there is room.. Although I have very little engineering expertise so I will follow your quest with great interest.. Someone here put a 560 V8 into a SWB 460.. Gearing was an issue I belive .. Good luck.. When you've done it .. If like a drive please!!!

If you have a 2009 G55 complete donor then I would be trying very hard to rebuild that rather than putting  the engine into a 1991 G300 !

Re: 463 v 12 conversion

Fix the g and fit an om606td to the 463

Like posted before its a shame not to fix the 09 one

Look on team blacksmoke racing and then decide if you want a v8

If you cruise a 606 wil give good fuel which was off road and road economy and only drink fuel when you are boosting

My guess it will still be good compared to turbo v8

I know where you are coming from though. My turbo 430 clk drift car is ace but its just fuelling the bastard all the time

Best was 30 on a run

Average 17

Thrash is about 5 if im lucky but i love the sound of a v8 so much

I have put a 606 in my 463 and its pretty much an easy swap with no major hassles just a bit of fabrication work to get it fitted without modding the chassis or shell in any way whatsoever

Its just thinking the job out before doing things

Mine has done19k now with no hassle off road and on

I lied just as it split an intercooler hose last weekend but it was an easy fix

Re: 463 v 12 conversion

You could do worse than re fit a 103 engine & if you have the time and opportunity match it up to a 104 engine block, putting a 12v head onto the 3.2 block for the extra torque but also to keep the KE jetronic system. Visually standard too...just a thought
