What is the life span of transfer box mounts, replaced mine about 10 years ago, look ok but seem softer than they should, particularly 1 side? Or have some still got the originals!!

"How long is a piece of string?"  frown

Although we would like to think these should last a life time of the vehicle; in some instances they do, but for some reason others don't. 10 yrs sounds be reasonable to me but it might be worth checking out the engine mountings and, or gear box mounting as well. I am thinking weak engine mounts adds stress to the transfer box (t/b) mountings hence seemingly reduced t/b bush life.

Any excessive prop-shaft vibrations would not help reduce t/b bush life. Driving style is part reason; obviously if you accelerate hard it will add stress to the mounting bushes.

Accelerating bush fragility is external contamination, in particular any oils settling on the bushes due to component leaks; is the main reason.
