Does anyone have a cure for a speedometer that is sticky or sluggish, especially on cold mornings? The unit is ok once warmed up

I can only think that the grease that goes inside the shirt of the cable has (almost) dried up. In the long term the cable will probably break down and you'll have to replace it.

Or you could try to access the top of the cable from beneath the instrument cluster and put a few drops of oil there, expecting that some of it will reach more lenght of the cable. I am not sure that that will happen, though.

If it's a mechanical one, check the worm-drive gear unit at the side of the transfer case, where the speedo cable connects to. I have found this to be the cause of jumpy needles.
The units tend to wear quickly but are easy enough to remove and replace.
