Could  the standard front fog lights which are recessed in the bumper  be made  brighter or converted to LEDs??? Is there a direct replacement kit available??

Hi Leonidas,

Yes ! you can simply buy a new lamp (some people call these "bulbs")

The fitting is a universal "h3" fitting and you remove the old filament lamp and install the new LED lamp. Cheap as chips and pretty simple DIY job.

I am not endorsing or selling that lamp. I am not a shareholder of Ebay. You can google "H3 LED an choose any one you wish from anywhere you wish.

Good luck buddy yes

Thanks Neil. I just ordered a pair.

Another question. Is the "rubber trim" surround on the  bumper recess removable or do I have to access the fog  light from behind the bumper? Perhaps a silly question, but I never had to change these bulbs in twenty years of ownership of this car!

I sadly don't have these trendy recessed fogs on my ol 460 so not 100% certain. But if anything like the rear i'd saylook for 2 screws in the front of the glass lense ? (someone more clued up than i will jump in if i'm wrong)

May the force be wiv ya !

Hi Neil, Thanks.

I had another look and  the surrounding trim is held by two Philips screws at its upper end, so i guess it will not be too much of an issue accessing the fog lights once this trim is removed. I'm not quite sure how the replacement LEDs bulbs will fit though as they seem  in the picture to have an additional "tail" wire connection- in addition to the metal fixing-  although they are designated as H3 bulbs.???

Re: 463 series Front Fog Lights

Hi Leonidas,

I noticed the single wire with spade end as the connection also.I do not know this as fact because i have not got the fogs and have not replaced these lamps myself. But i have had experience with led's and swapping like for like. They do sometimes have what appears to be a different fitting. but if decribed as H3 then they should fit the H3 lamp holder. I suspect the spade is pushed into the coupling and the base of the lamp has the flange which push and twist to sit within the lamp holder ?

Let us all know if they do work correctly and make the difference that is sought ?

Re: 463 series Front Fog Lights

Please let us know how you get on with these bulbs !.. would be interested in doing this myself, and also having the main headlights brighter on my 460.

do you guys think there are any of these that would fit the main healdlights?

Alexander

Re: 463 series Front Fog Lights

Alexander,

YES ! To both questions.

Headlamps can be swapped to LED. (But I hear rumours about updating wiring so we need a cleverer man than I to advise correctly ?) in fact all lamps can be changed to LED inside and out !

I'll catch with yA soon and look forward to the update !

Best wishes

Neil
