As part of the cab conversion project i'll be making a trayback for a rear bed,i tend to carry heavy loads around the estate, within limits, ish,on public roads,i was looking at the 16'' steel wheels that are currently on the G and wondered if they would work as a twin wheel set up for the rear axle,i plan to beef up the rear springs aswell, anyone done this, does it work out ok?Cheers.Nick

I think you will struggle for room as the half shafts are enclosed inside steel casing and would be immensely difficult to shorten, look at the pics in this ebay advert

Assuming you don't have a HD rear axle, surely just better to fit van tyres with strongest side walls, White springs, hope for best? How heavy loads are you planning to carry?

In scotland yes, definately not scotch, yes quite a bit,i'll fit the steel wheels up tomorrow and see how they work, ive got long wheel bolts so it should be ok,at the moment i cant see why it wouldnt work is there any legal reason for not doing it,vosa or mot test?
