Hi all looking to upgrade the engine in my 93 300GD. Been looking at the 606 but they are getting hard to find. Has anybody had a go at fitting the 320 CDI if so were there any  issues, how did you get round the electronic ? This has probably been asked before but i can not find any threads

Cheers Andy

Re: 320 CDI

I was looking to do similar.  In the end went for a straight replacement 230GE petrol engine and might get it back this week.

I wanted an OM606 (6 cylinder petrol) but the electronics, sump and engine bay mounting were the challenge, I was told.  So you need some experience from someone that will do it properly.  Mine is automatic, and I was told you needed a box to manage the gear changes for an auto, and they were not road legal (or something) so would be a liability (as well as being prone to glitches, like randomly changing gear at speed).  I was told a manual conversion is the best combination.

I decided to keep dreaming for a regular V6 or V8.

Re: 320 CDI

Easier conversion is a 605, as your driving a 3 door it would produce ample power
