300 gd Injector pump leaking diesel
Hi Guys
I previously posted issues i had with the G wagon which refused to start one morning, the lifter pump didn't seem to be working so i ordered a new one from MB. Anyway the problem has not gone away!!!!! on further inspection i have noticed that there is diesel leakage from the inlets that go out of the injector pump on top ( 5 pipes in total). I have purchase new o rings and washer for this, Hoping that this should resolve the problem of diesel leak.
Problem: in order to replace the above i have disconnected the pipes but cannot actually unscrew the fitting that is attached to the injector pump were the o ring and washers go. The fitting has little spikes all around and a locking plate fits around it in order to prevent it loosening (i guess not too good on mechanical terminology).
Can some please advise? do i require a special tool, or can i just get a adjustable wrench on it? is this also a common problem ? anything i need to know?
vehicle is 300gd (88)
regards
Sati
99% sure there's a special tool for this...
Not got my laptop with me so will look tomorrow and report back
Pardon my ignorance, but if you turn those parts don't you disturb the delivery of diesel per cylinder?
I know they are locked and marked when the pump comes back from recalibration.
Hi!
I recently did that job on my car. They just need to be tightened correctly - do not overtighten!
I've got an OM602.962 but maybe this will help anyway.
Loosen the pipes and get them out of the way.

Buy the copper washers and the tool from ebay.

Buy the rubber gaskets too

Inspect and clean the delivery valves. Replace the washers and gaskets.

Tighten first with 30NM, loosen a bit and then tighten 35NM.
Good luck!
Looks good...
