After my last rather too enthousiastic offroad adventure I ripped off the fueltank protector.
So I trundled down to Daventry from Yorkshire to get Bill to have a look at it.
We got it on the ramp and I heard Bill mutter something about 'f*cked shockabsorbers' and before I know it 3 new shocks had been fitted, not the fourth because that one had grown very 'attached' to the car after 23 years!!
After some persuasion this one at last gave up the fight and the last new shock was fitted.
Then he said, while it is on the ramp I might as well clean and adjust the rearbrakes, wow I ndver knew a G could brake like that! My little dog ended up in the footwell on a number of occasions.
Finally Bill refitted the guard after he hammered it back into shape.

The difference in ridequality is staggering, all the vibrationissues and steeringwheel wobbles have gone. In fact I find it amazing that this 23 year old G will happily cruise at 85mph with so little drama I can roll a cigarette whilst driving!!
The fuelconsumption at these speeds is AMAZING as well
It corners like on rails now, best thing I ever did for the old girl.
A huge improvement in driveabilty for a very reasonable cost, well worth the trip from Yorkshire.

Also a quick update on the 300GD that Bill is converting to turbodiesel power with a military gearbox, all the bits and bobs have come together now and I believe the engine and box are going in next week (correct me if I am wrong Bill :D )

I am off to Langdale Quest this Sunday in North Yorkshire to do some offroading, see if I can keep it in one piece this time

If I don't, I find it reassuring to know that there is a man who can fix it for me, why he always rolls his eyes when I turn up I do not understand
