G500 alarm

Does anyone know if a 2001 G500 comes standard with an alarm. It seems to have an imobiliser but no alarm. I think this may have been a option. Some have the little switches on the dash by which you can turn the alarm off and deactivate the tow away sensor.

I seems that the post 2002 Gs have this as standard. (indicators on door mirrors).

On the basis that it such a car does not have an alarm, does anyone know how easy / expensive it is to have an MB one retro-fitted?

By the number of Gs in Germany without the option it seems that car crime is not so much of a problem there.
