Stripped threads on oil cooler

I have had a solution on stripped alloy threads on oil coolers, i took one to a local hydralic hose repair shop and he put a half inch thread over the stripped end then put a half inch female on the cooler with a half inch to a 22mm male, job done and 260 quid saved !
