Hello everybody,
My real name is Geoffrey.
I am a photographer from Antwerp...but more interestingly a dedicated overland adventurer. I have spent the last decade roaming around the sahara and sub sahara in my little defender 90. Expeditions to the north like Iceland were also undertaken. I loved the defenders offroad capabilities but I dreaded the long uncomfortable haul to and back from destinations. I love the classic timeless no nonsense look of the landrover but I love the G even more (for the same reasons). I have now bought a 463 lwb 300gd to replace my LR. I really hope it will live up to my expectations. I chose this model because I wanted more comfort, more room but no computers and electronics. My new G is a rare find...it has only 65000km and is in mint A1 showroom condition. I hope I can find info on this forum on how to make my G expedition ready (suspension lift, dual batteries, split charger, 33" tires and a little more oomph)
If anyone has questions about overlanding, navigation, routes & tracks I will be very happy to help!
Thx,
G

i like it when people see the light :P your lr 90 looked impressive in the last pic. but your 300GDL looks great !!! is it original paint ? i am sure you will love your new toy. you are wise to go for an early non electronic version. [what did it cost you if you dont mind me asking? ]

There isn't much you can do to get more power other than turbo and that would be a big undertaking. All you can do is rev it more. Nice G. It has been made to look like a 500

Thank you,
The G is completely original apart from the 18" wheels. The mint condition 15" wheels are also included. The color is "violet" its a dark gray metallic with a very subtle purple tone in it. The car is brand spanking new, i kid you not.
It looks like it just left the showroom floor. There is not even the tiniest evidence of use on the truck...unbelievable! But I know I payed a premium price for it
But it has ALWAYS been my dreamcar. How many enthousiasts haven't dreamed of being able to buy a NEW G from back when there were no electronics to go wrong? This is as close as it gets...for the price of a basic astra 8) I looked long and hard for it, I drove thousands of miles trough germany to look at dozens of G's. I love the early 463's, they have the most beautiful typical mercedes interior and dash that is so in sync with the amazing timeless teutonic design of the car...The 350 td's are not as reliable, and the 300td's are already full of electronics. Then I found this one, test drove it...and bit the bullet. I don't mind that it takes time to get up to speed...I am never in a hurry on my expeditions, but I am a little concerned that it's going to have trouble in the dunes. If someone can comfort me by saying that their 300gd drives trough soft sand without choking I would fee very relieved!! Need I say that I am exited about this truck?
thx for letting me share my exitement!!! :D

I know it's not easy or common...
The 6 cylinder td as fitted to w124 station wagons has a different block to cope with extra heat from the turbo I am told? So you cannot just fit a turbo to this engine (they told)
But I have read somewhere that there is/was a bigger bosh fuel pump that could give up to 15-20 extra hp...I am now trying to find out if that is true? And if so, what it is and where i can get it?
To be continued...

Hello and welcome to the club!

Nice that you have seen the light and got yourself a G, and what a G you have! I just love the colour, the fact it looks like a G500 AND the condition!

I hope you have many great journeys in it and that we may see some of you photos from previous explorations! (You could create a new photo book thingy here on the forum, but try not to include too many pictures of the LR!  )

Will we see you over at the AGM this year?

Once again, great find and I hope you have many years of fun!
