Wheel alignment - take II
Having checked carefully my car's wheel alignment, toe in was correctly adjusted at 0 degrees +2 minutes BUT I found a positive camber on the front RHS wheel of only 0,3 degrees - outside factory tolerance. The positive camber of the front LHS wheel was spot on at 1.2 degrees.
Is this discrepancy serious?
How does one check the cause (wheel bearings or what...)?
Since there is no adjustment how does one "repair it"?
Hello Anakreon,
Wheel bearings are checked with the front axle jacked up and duely secured with axle stands. Taking hold of the wheel at at 12 and 6 O'clock positions, shake the wheel at those axisis. Effectively, there should be no or negliable play or rocking of the wheel.
A tiny amount is acceptable. If the play is excessive, then, do not even bother to readjust the bearing, you will have to replace the bearing.
The chamber is adjusted by shims, either, added or removed from either top or bottom of the king pins; the positive chamber on your vehicle is minisual compared to the effort required to bring into torelence. Suggest leaving it alone unless you are replacing the wheel bearings in which case go for it.

Hi Anakreon,Pistonhead,
do you know either the right torgue for adjusting the front wheel bearing or any specific technique? :?:
Regards Angelos
Thank you for the answer. I will of course follow your advice and leave it well alone until bearings develop descrnible play in which case
I will replace them. Then I will adjust the camber by shims at the king-pins. I appreciate your down-to-earth approach.
