It would appear that Touareg owners like to get out of their 18" wheels so I grabbed a set at a good price and here they are on a 460. I can use tyres up to 32" but frankly around this city the 4.88 gearing is fine so 265/65/18 are fine.

They look good. Better than Cayenne wheels on a G.

Did you have to bore out the centre to make them fit?

Yes but that was an easy job. ET was correct and of course all PCD was correct. Drives well .

Part number is A170 400 00 25 and they cost 9 pounds each. Bear in mind I had to take both the wheel centres of both MB and VW apart to make up a set of correct fitting centres. If anyone wants the MB leftovers they can have them

How did you bore out the center? Is honing them with a drill good enough or do you need to do it in a lathe?

Yes I agree. My understanding is that the centre needs to be a tight precise fit as the bolts holding the wheel on are not designed to take all the stress associated with traction and lateral forces imposed on the wheel tyre combination.

Thanks Cliff!

Yeah, I know the G-wheels, as most other wheels, are hub centric, so precision is required, just wondered if "tanex" had any easy tricks.
They look really great, might grab as they're priced quite well here too. Should be able to get access to a lathe at my university, could make a nice project for the autumn.

Oh, and be aware that there are two bolt circles, 5x120 for the 2,5 TDi-T'reg and 5x130 for the others.

Thought of making up a tool to do them without using a lathe but there is quite a bit to remove. Did them on a lathe to same diameter as my MB alloys. Yes this part is important as they locate the wheels . I agree they look better than most if not all of the Cayenne wheels. 18" Tyres are available up to 32". You will need the VW centres as MB ones will not clip in properly. just grind out the VW and glue on a MB plate
