i want to start venturing off road(not like mark or twodogs!!!!) green lanes and rockcrawling style but my lpg tanks are a downside.

i will be getting orc springs with 40mm lift soon and was wondering what's the biggest tyre (tallest) i could fit without messing about with ratios etc.

rgds hus

Re: off road prep.

Funny how this post is getting a lot of response on the US forums from UK GWOA members but not here.... hmmmmm

However like they all said over there... I think you're NUTS to do it to your G!!! Can you imagine rupturing an LPG tank :o ...there is a reason why they don't allow them on the EuroTunnel!

That plus its a nice G and looks in great shape.

Go buy a cheaper one for off roading.

Indeed, Huss, don't do it to your G! Just imagine scraped up sides, mud in every orifice, ripped off arches, etc, etc. Go buy a £500 diesel G and do it with that and that way you can have a lot more fun as well!

With all due respect for my fellow forum members, I don't agree with them Huss. You have a GWagen, designed and made by the finest engineers and mechanics that Mercedes and Steyr could hire for the purpose of off-road driving. Just choose to do the level of difficulty that won't put your price and joy at risk. There is a lot of mud driving to be done without risking your G. Enjoy it!

Mortinson what you are missing is the fact that he has massive LPG tanks hanging down very low under the body.

Yes, thanks, I appreciate that now. Then get yourself another G, I guess that's the way to go.
