the first g to enter n-cyprus was reg no;AS 988/RED SWB240GD SOFT TOP
the second was reg no; BH 881/RED LWB 300GD
the third was mine reg no;BN 611 BLUESWB....ahhhh what memories!
we lived in lefkosa and lapta so you may not have seen mine,i sold the blue swb 13 years ago but brought a red soft top reg no CM601 WHICH DEBRELI ALSO IMPORTED just before yours,but because it was a 230 ge(petrol)could not sell it for over a year. now your dad must be the timber merchant on the left hand side of famagusta's entrance from lefkosa.

Now that we Turks are back into G wagens I dont know why the army is still buying Land Rovers ? Mind you they are still using the first G wagens they built over in Turkey in Aksaray circa 1980. 240 GDL no power steering, soft top lwb and they are in mint condition. May be Mustafa can get a picture of them. (dont get arrested though) There is plenty of them in Gulseren Barracks.

by the way Bengu's G was a red lwb 300GD without wheel arches.he soon fitted alloys when he saw mine!his reg was BH811, do you remember it?

I heard about these Gs CKD-assembled in Aksaray but due to lack of pictures I ended up thinking that this was a myth. Also in my previous trips to Turkey, I never saw one (probably too busy working!). Can anybody post a few pictures of these Gs -without getting arrested, please.
i didnt wanted to put this pic as it shows only a partial part of the g-wagen but to end the idea that its a myth or not i'm putting it. i'll also post more as i get hold of them.
the picture is only a month old and it shows the president of north cyprus on a g and the head of army on the 23rd anniversary day 15th of november and there is another g at the background which other car could be carrying the president anyway :)
Those are the ceremonial G's (as you can see) but also, they have plenty of daily runners as well. I have never seen any hardtops though. Huss was telling me he saw some hardtops as well. May be mustafa can get more information on that. But can you CKD assemble hard tops ?

a G wagen gathering in n-cyprus is a great idea,if you can do some research on this it would be interesting to know exactly how many G's there are in n-cyprus.

I met an old friend on my last day out there who owns a land(AS HE CALLS IT)toyota vx.he has some mods on it and is an off road nutcase(a bit like twodogs!!)he knows of some great tracks and hope to join him this summer.

selam gardas. whos the second or first? i'm in famagusta, its brown regno is CA271 of course we can meet up we have bought the car back in 89 or 90 from debreli garage. one of the first ones if not the first one in cyprus i think. well nice seeing other cypriots anyway
