Summer Drive Wales 2015
This years summer drive took place around Llandrindod Wells & Radnorshire. After several days of planning Adrian Cox decided to join in with the three day event & Alex Frost and his wife Julie choose to join us for day three the other 99% of members were unable to join us.
Although not central to the event we decided to stay at the Gwaelod-y-Garth Inn as they have always been very helpful and the food & beer is always good.
Day one saw us drive 3 byways starting at Moelfre Hill. The entry point to this is still to be unlocked by the council so it is necessary to enter from a few fields away. With overgrowth in the region of 6ft it was quite funny to just see the roof's of 2 G Wagens making there way along the hidden route. From here we used another byway before climing the bedrock stairs at Rhyader.
Day two started at Painscastle and consisted of 4 byways taking us in a huge circle, the sun shone and at times visibility was in the region of 40 miles.
Day 3 we used similar byways but in reverse, the rain was persistent most of the day but all three G wagens coped well with the slippery conditions.
Thanks to the members who attended the event and also to my son who opened & closed 35 gates on the Sunday in the pouring rain.
