new engine wanted 1989 MERCEDES-BENZ G-WAGEN 300GD M2

I am after a replacement engine for my 1989 MERCEDES-BENZ G-WAGEN 300GD M2

Can anybody help advise on where and what would work, maybe even swapping to petrol (if that is an option)?

Advise on cost I should be paying?

I've got a 300GD engine for sale, it was was removed running from a 1981 manual W460. Can show a video of it running in car. Needs a new rear crank shaft oil seal £250 collection from East Yorkshire.

One of the quirks of this old forum is the time it takes to create a post, and no egg timer to let you know. Resulting in duplicate submits. But we tidy up/ remove them.

On the subject of engines... This is my view:

Unseen/not known if running. Just removed from a donor:. £200

If known running and you trust the vendors word on that £300+

If you can see it running or drive it first: £400+

If it's had documented work done on it and overhauled: £500+

[edit: as scouse g suggests, the above are optimistic buyer prices, for base, straight, non-turbo, engines]

You need to be more specific about pricing against different engines, a lot of the higher performing diesels (662/605/606) have been snapped up in uk and prices have increased due to shortages , ever Tom dick and Harry are fitting them in just about everything - classic cars/Land Rover/boats- etc

Naturally aspirated 617’s and m102 (230) are the prices you are quoting?
